What are vape tanks?
Looking for a perfect vape tank to complete your vaping kit? Let’s start from the basic and learn more about the different vape tanks available in the market today.
A vape tank is the part of your e-cigarette or mod that supports your e-liquid and contains the coil which heats it. In many cases tanks are made of plastic, pyrex or metal (stainless steel and anodized aluminum) and are fastened into your vape mod. The vape tank plays a role that is quite similar to a vehicle’s gas tank. It’s the reservoir that houses the fuel that makes it run!
As vaping grown in popularity around the world so does the different choices, vapers have when it comes to how they vape and the vaping gear that they use.
How do vaping tanks work?
First, your vaping juice is loaded into the tank. It is stored there until you fire up your device. At that time, the atomizer heats up the vape juice and it is transformed into vapor. That’s what you’re going to be inhaling and exhaling.
No matter what vape tank you choose, it’s going to perform the same basic role in vaping.
However, there are plenty of different types out there…and each one offers a slightly different experience.
There are several different options available when it comes to how you vape and the type of tanks you use. Let’s look at the different tanks.
A clearomizer is a see-through glass or plastic tank that holds a premade atomizer. They are now much bigger, holding 2-3ml of e-liquid or e-juice. The coil is removable and can be easily refilled. It has a clear plastic or glass body allowing the user to see the level of e-liquid at all times and refill them when it gets too low. It is most commonly used on vape pens especially those beginner’s kits. You can normally buy a beginner kit with two devices, two clearomizer tanks, coils, and e-juice or e-liquid.
A tank is basically a larger, more sophisticated version of a clearomiser. They are normally made from stainless-steel and have glass tanks. The coils are replaceable like a clearomizer but the tanks capacity is normally anywhere from 2ml to 5-6ml. Tanks cost more than clearomisers but they will usually save you money in the long run. The coils are a little more expensive, but tend to last longer, so it evens out.
Sub Ohm Tanks are like basic tanks but the coils inside are much lower resistance than regular coils. What does this mean for you? The coils can handle higher wattage and will produce much bigger clouds of vapor. You will also be able to use higher VG e-liquids which have better flavor profiles. You’ll need a more powerful mod to take advantage of sub-ohm tanks. There are some fantastic sub-ohm tanks and mods available ready to use. They’ll cost a little more than regular mods and tanks but the investment is well worth the added cost!
Re-Buildable Atomizers (RBAs)
RBAs are like other tanks but instead of changing your coil with another pre-made coil, you wrap and build your own coils. By creating your own coils, you can personalize your vaping to fit your preference while also cutting the costs associated with buying new coils.
Re-Buildable Dripping Atomizer (RDAs)
It’s the number 1 choice of cloud chaser because it can produce large vapors. Instead of filling your tanks, you drip e-liqiud or e-juice directly onto the coil when you vape. RDA’s on high-powered mod can absolutely generate an incredible amount of vapor, and with right coil design they’re very good for flavor too.
Re-Buildable Tank Atomizer (RTAs)
An RTA is similar to the before mentioned RDA. The main difference? The RTA does in fact come with a refillable tank. You get all the benefits of an RDA without the hassle of having to drip so much.
Re-Buildable Dripping Tank Atomizer (RDTA)
There is still a deck to build on, but you also have a tank to store your e-liquid. You don’t constantly drip e-liquid, it drips it for you when you press down on the drip tip.
Genesis Tank Atomizer (GTA)
A GTA is an enclosed or sealed build deck. It’s similar to an RTA but incorporates the wick system of the RDTA. The coil sits in the middle of the tank and then the wick drops down into the tank. It isn’t one of the more common styles, but some vapers do prefer it.
